A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION DIRECTING THE CITY
ADMINISTRATION TO NOT SCHEDULE ANY EVENTS IN A
COMMISSIONER'S DISTRICT WITHOUT FIRST COMMUNICATING WITH THE
DISTRICT COMMISSIONER'S OFFICE TO DETERMINE THE
COMMISSIONER'S AVAILABILITY TO PARTICIPATE IN THE EVENT.

WHEREAS, recently, the City of Miami's ("City") Administration has scheduled various
community events in the Districts of City Commissioners without first consulting with the District
Commissioner or determining whether the District Commissioner is available to participate in the
event set to take place in the District; and
WHEREAS, the District Commissioners are the elected representatives of the District in
which City sponsored events are scheduled to take place and it is, therefore, entirely
appropriate and courteous for the City's Administration to seek the District Commissioner's
participation in any such events; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission finds it to be in the best interests of the citizens,
residents, and stakeholders of the City to direct the City's Administration to communicate with
the applicable District Commissioner's Office to ascertain the District Commissioner's availability
prior to scheduling any such events in a District;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are
adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The Miami City Commission directs the City's Administration to not
schedule any events in a Commissioner's District without first communicating with the
District Commissioner's Office to determine the District Commissioner's availability to
participate in the event.
Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and
signature of the Mayor.'
1 If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar
days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become
effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
