HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-19-0446City of Miami Resolution R-19-0446 Legislation City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 6598 Final Action Date: 11/21/2019 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE AND EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, WITH SUNDARI FOUNDATION INC., A FLORIDA NOT FOR PROFIT CORPORATION ("LOTUS HOUSE"), TO ESTABLISH THE CITY OF MIAMI ("CITY") FEEDING PROGRAM, INCLUDING THE PROVISION OF FOOD AND MEAL EXPENSES FOR WOMEN, YOUTH, AND CHILDREN EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS IN THE CITY, AT A TOTAL COST NOT TO EXCEED TWENTY-FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($25,000.00) FOR FISCAL YEAR 2019-2020, WITH CONDITIONS AS STATED IN THE AGREEMENT. WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") is committed to assisting homeless persons within the jurisdictional boundaries of the City; and WHEREAS, in 2018, the City provided the Sundari Foundation, Inc., a Florida not for profit corporation ("Lotus House"), $35,000.00 in funds to provide for food and meal expenses for women, youth, and children experiencing homelessness in the City ("Program"); and WHEREAS, Lotus House is requesting $25,000.00 in funding in to order continue the Program for Fiscal Year 2019-2020; and WHEREAS, funds for the Program in an amount not to exceed $25,000.00, will be available to fund the Program as obligations become due by the City; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Manager is authorized1 to negotiate and execute an Agreement, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, with Lotus House to continue the City's Program, at a total cost not to exceed $25,000.00, for Fiscal Year 2019-2020, with conditions as stated in the Agreement, for a period of one (1) year. Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption 1 The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to, those prescribed by applicable City Charter and City Code provisions.
