HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-19-0422City of Miami Resolution R-19-0422 Legislation City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 6484 Final Action Date: 10/24/2019 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S), ALLOCATING GRANT FUNDS FROM THE DISTRICT 1 COMMISSIONER'S SHARE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI'S ANTI -POVERTY INITIATIVE ("API") FUNDS IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED ONE HUNDRED TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS ($102,000.00) TO THE CITY OF MIAMI'S POLICE DEPARTMENT FOR THE ALLAPATTAH NEIGHBORHOOD ENHANCEMENT TEAM CLOSED CIRCUIT TELEVISION CAMERA INITIATIVE. SPONSOR(S): Commissioner Wifredo (Willy) Gort WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") created the Anti -Poverty Initiative ("API") to address poverty based on a strategy of focusing the provision of support to the City's residents achieving self-sufficiency; and WHEREAS, the District 1 Commissioner desires to create an opportunity for increased formal surveillance in an effort to prevent and reduce crime in the City; and WHEREAS, the City's Police Department ("MPD") is seeking funds to install cameras at ten (10) Neighborhood Enhancement Team ("NET") locations in Allapattah as identified more specifically in Exhibit "A," attached and incorporated, that will be added to the Real Time Crime Center closed circuit television ("CCTV") camera network monitored by MPD in an effort to prevent and reduce crime as well as assist MPD in investigating and solving cases ("Allapattah NET CCTV Camera Initiative"); and WHEREAS, the Allapattah NET CCTV Camera Initiative furthers the API's goals within the City and exemplifies the principles outlined in the API Program Guidelines; and WHEREAS, it is requested that the City Commission allocate funds from the District 1 Commissioner's share of API Funds in an amount not to exceed One Hundred Two Thousand Dollars ($102,000.00) to MPD for the Allapattah NET CCTV Camera Initiative; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2.
