A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION APPROVING THE
COCONUT GROVE BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT'S ("BID")
APPOINTMENT OF ABIGAEL MAHONY AS THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF
THE BID.
SPONSOR(S): Commissioner Ken Russell
WHEREAS, the Coconut Grove Business Improvement District ("BID") was re-
established to stabilize and improve retail and other business in the areas described in Sections
35-221 and 54-341 of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended ("City Code"), through
promotion, management, marketing, and other similar services, including but not limited to,
coordination, funding, implementation and maintenance of infrastructure improvements, and
other projects; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-1255 of the City Code, the Board of Directors of the
BID ("BID Board") has the authority to appoint an Executive Director and fix the terms of
engagement and compensation of the Executive Director subject to City Commission approval,
which shall not be unreasonably withheld; and
WHEREAS, on October 9, 2019, the BID Board unanimously adopted a resolution
appointing Abigael Mahony ("Mahony") as the Executive Director of the BID pursuant to certain
terms of engagement and compensation; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to approve the appointment of Mahony as the
Executive Director of the BID;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are
adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The City Commission hereby approves the appointment of Mahony as the
Executive Director of the BID pursuant to certain terms of engagement and compensation as
established by the BID Board.
Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and
signature by the Mayor.'
1 If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days
from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective
immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
