GLASCOCK MEMORIAL HIGHWAY"; FURTHER DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO TRANSMIT A COPY OF THIS RESOLUTION TO THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, DISTRICT SIX, FOR SIGN INSTALLATION WITHIN THE NEWLY DESIGNATED ROADWAY. WHEREAS, the Florida Legislature, during its 2019 session, passed Chapter 2019-169, Laws of Florida, approving, inter alia, several road designations, including a co -designation for Trooper Bradley S. Glascock ("Trooper Glascock"); and WHEREAS, Trooper Glascock was born April 9, 1953 in Maitland, Florida; and WHEREAS, on June 6, 1976, Trooper Glascock joined the Florida Highway Patrol ("FHP") and was assigned to the Miami station; and WHEREAS, on August 4, 1977, Trooper Glascock was fatally shot and killed in the line of duty during a traffic stop on State Road 836/Dolphin Expressway; and WHEREAS, Trooper Glascock's name is inscribed on the National Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington D.C.; and WHEREAS, Trooper Glascock's untimely death spurred the decision by the State cabinet to issue all FHP patrolmen bullet -resistant vests; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this section. Section 2. The Miami City Commission declares no objection and supports the co - designation by the Florida Legislature, pursuant to Chapter 2019-169, Laws of Florida, designating State Road 836/Dolphin Expressway from Northwest 12th Avenue to Northwest 27th Avenue, Miami, Florida, as "Trooper Bradley S. Glascock Memorial Highway". Section 3. The City Clerk is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to the Florida Department of Transportation, District Six, for sign installation within the newly co -designated roadways. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.'
