Gonzalez, PH.D., City Manager Alan Dodd, P.E., Director of Resilience and Public Works Subject — 1-395 Foundation Encroachments within City of Miami Right of Way Dear Mr. Gonzalez, KEVIN J. THIBAULT, P.E. SECRETARY The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is in the process of building improvements along SR 836 / 1-395 from NW 17th Ave. to MacArthur Causeway that will enhance safety and mobility within Miami -Dade County. The improvements provide a vital link connecting the City of Miami, Miami -Dade County and the City of Miami Beach. The proposed improvements include a Heritage Trail linking pedestrians from NW 3'd Ave. to Biscayne Boulevard beneath the 1-395 overpass. The City and FDOT are actively working together to provide amenities that would encourage activity within this segment including direct access to shopping, recreation, entertainment, transportation and employment. These improvements are consistent with the City Code that promotes development that enhances the pedestrian experience. To complete the improvements, new bridge pier foundations are required to support the 1-395 / SR 836 elevated highway. Some of the foundations will have underground encroachments into City of Miami Right of Way. The FDOT is requesting conveyance of permanent easements from the City of Miami for placement of bridge pier foundations within the City of Miami Right of Way. Attached are exhibits illustrating the locations where encroachments are required along with parcel sketches and legal descriptions of each. Please review and advise if there are any concerns with the proposed easements. If none, we would request to have the City authorize immediate use by FDOT to begin construction of underground foundations within such encroachment areas. Sincerely, mes Wolfe, P.E. istrict Six Secretary Florida Department of Transportation - District 6 CC: Juvenal Santana, P.E., Deputy Director of Resilience and Public Works City of Miami Alan Dodd, P.E., Director of Resilience and Public Works Auraliz Benitez, P.E., Project Manager, Florida Department of Transportation Jaqueline Sequeira, P.E., Construction Manager, Florida Department of Transportation ww.dot.state.fl.us
