A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION EXPRESSING SUPPORT FOR
THE CUP FUTSAL ALL STAR GAMES ON SEPTEMBER 23-24, 2019 AT MARLINS
PARK AND DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TRANSMIT A COPY OF THIS
RESOLUTION TO THE OFFICIALS DESIGNATED HEREIN.
WHEREAS, Futsal All -Star 2019 is a four -team tournament featuring national
teams from Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, and the United States of America ("U.S.A."); and
WHEREAS, Futsal is a fast -paced, indoor game of "5 v 5" court soccer played with a
low -bounce ball which allows players to demonstrate their exceptional skills, scoring, and ball
handling and helped shaped some of the most notable players in the world including Pele,
Renaldo, Messi, Ronaldinho, and Neymar who all credit Futsal with aiding their evolution as
players; and
WHEREAS, Five -time Futsal "5 v 5 soccer" World Cup Champions Brazil and 2016
Futsal World Cup winners Argentina will be participating for the very first time on United States
soil on September 23rd and September 24th at Marlins Park in Miami, Florida.
WHEREAS, the event will also include family activities, Futsal tutorials and clinics, and
specialized art installations.
WHEREAS, the Miami City Commission looks forward to welcoming the Cup Futsal
Games in the hopes that the popular sport will help strengthen connections between neighbors,
while offering City of Miami residents an opportunity to meet and bond with the players;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are
adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The City of Miami Commission supports for the Cup Futsal All Star Games
on September 23-24, 2019 at Marlins Park.
Section 3. The City Clerk is directed to immediately transmit a copy of this Resolution to
Mr. Rodney Henry.
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and
signature of the Mayor.'
If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days
from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective
immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
