HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-19-0303City of Miami Resolution R-19-0303 Legislation City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 6140 Final Action Date: 7/25/2019 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, ALLOCATING BUDGET RESERVE FUNDS FROM COMMUNITY INVESTMENT PROGRAMS' FUNDS, IN A TOTAL AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED TWENTY FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($25,000.00) TO THE HISPANIC BUSINESS INITIATIVE FUND NATIONWIDE, INC., D/B/A PROSPERA, A FLORIDA NOT FOR PROFIT CORPORATION ("PROSPERA"), FOR THE CREATION OF A PROGRAM THAT WILL EDUCATE MICROBUSINESS OWNERS WITHIN THE CITY OF MIAMI ("CITY") ON THE IMPORTANCE OF TECHNOLOGY, PROTECTION FROM CYBER THREATS, AND PROVIDE ASSISTANCE WITH EFFICIENCIES FOR THE BOOSTING OF PERFORMANCE AND PROFITABILITY; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE AND EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH PROSPERA, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, FOR SAID ALLOCATION; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE AND EXECUTE ANY AND ALL OTHER DOCUMENTS NECESSARY, ALL IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, FOR SAID PURPOSE. WHEREAS, the Hispanic Business Initiative Fund Nationwide, Inc., d/b/a Prospera, a Florida not for profit corporation ("Prospera"), is a leading not for profit economic development organization in the State of Florida; and WHEREAS, Prospera has requested funds for the creation of a program that will educate microbusiness owners within the City of Miami ("City") on the importance of technology, protection from cyber threats, and provide assistance with efficiencies for the boosting of performance and profitability ("Program"); and WHEREAS, the City wishes to allocate grant funds in a total amount not to exceed Twenty Five Thousand Dollars ($25,000.00) of Budget Reserve Funds, from Community Investment Programs' Funds to Prospera for the Program; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble of this Resolution are adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The allocation of Budget Reserve Funds from Community Investment Programs' Funds in a total amount not to exceed Twenty Five Thousand Dollars ($25,000.00) to Prospera for the funding of the Program is authorized.' The City Manager is authorized' to negotiate and execute an Agreement with Prospera, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, for said allocation. Section 4. The City Manager is further authorized to negotiate and execute any and all other documents necessary, all in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, for said purpose. Section 5. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.2 APPROVED AS TO FORM AND CORRECTNESS: ndez, City ttor ey 7/11/2019 1 The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to, those prescribed by applicable City Charter and City Code provisions. 2 If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted.
