Subject: Accept Bid - Submersible Axial Flow Propeller Pump
Purpose of Item:
The nature of this item is to authorize a resolution of the Miami City Commission,
accepting the bid received on March 13, 2019 pursuant to IFB 1031382 from the
following sole responsive and responsible Bidder, F.J. Nugent & Associates, Inc., ("F.J.
Nugent") for the purchase of a submersible axial flow propeller pump, a
one-time purchase, allocating funds from the City of Miami's Department of Resilience
and Public Works' ("Public Works") Belle Meade Pump Station Account Fund, 40-
B193804, and other sources of funds.
Background of Item:
The City of Miami ("City") has identified a need to purchase a submersible axial flow
propeller pump, to replace the current pump at the Belle Meade Pump Station. On
March 13, 2019, the Department of Procurement ("Procurement") on behalf of Public
Works, issued IFB No. 1031382, Purchase of a Submersible Axial Flow Propeller Pump.
As required by the Procurement Code, the IFB was advertised and issued online. On
March 27, 2019, at the bid closing, one (1) bid was received. Procurement is
recommending award to F.J. Nugent & Associates, Inc. which met all requirements, per
the bid specifications, and is the sole responsive and responsible Bidder. The
estimated amount is $120,811.00 for a one-time purchase. The funds will be allocated
from the City of Miami Public Works' Belle Meade Pump Station Account Fund, 40-
B193804, and other sources of funds.

A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, ACCEPTING THE BID
RECEIVED MARCH 27, 2019, PURSUANT TO INVITATION FOR BID ("IFB") NO.
1031382, FOR THE PURCHASE OF A SUBMERSIBLE AXIAL FLOW PROPELLER
PUMP FROM F.J. NUGENT & ASSOCIATES, INC. ("F.J. NUGENT"), THE SOLE
RESPONSIVE AND RESPONSIBLE BIDDER, FOR A ONE-TIME PURCHASE FOR
THE CITY OF MIAMI'S DEPARTMENT OF RESILIENCE AND PUBLIC WORKS
("PUBLIC WORKS").
WHEREAS, the Department of Resilience and Public Works ("Public Works") has a need
to purchase a submersible axial flow propeller pump to replace the current pump at the Belle
Meade Pump Station; and
WHEREAS, on March 13, 2019, the Department of Procurement ("Procurement") on
behalf of Public Works, issued Invitation for Bid ("IFB") No. 1031382 for a one-time purchase of
a submersible axial flow propeller pump;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are
adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The bid received March 27, 2019, pursuant to IFB No. 1031382, for the
purchase of a submersible axial flow propeller pump from F.J. Nugent, the sole responsive and
responsible bidder, for a one-time purchase for Public Works, is accepted.
Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and
signature of the Mayor.

1 If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days
from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective
immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
