City of Miami Legislation Resolution City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 5809 Final Action Date:6/27/2019 MAY BE WITHDRAWN A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION PURSUANT TO SECTION 54-16 OF THE CODE OF MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS AMENDED, DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO INITIATE THE PERMANENT RESTRICTION OF VEHICULAR ACCESS ON SOUTHWEST 24TH TERRACE AT ITS INTERSECTIONS WITH SOUTHWEST 17TH AVENUE AND SOUTHWEST 27TH AVENUE TO ELIMINATE CUT -THROUGH TRAFFIC, THROUGH THE USE OF A PERMANENT LANDSCAPE BARRICADE, OTHER REMOVABLE BOLLARD DEVICE, OR NON -PERMANENT DEVICE, SUBJECT TO FINAL APPROVAL BY THE MIAMI-DADE COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION AND PUBLIC WORKS TRAFFIC DIVISION, INCLUDING LOCATION OF THE BARRICADE OR OTHER DEVICE, AND CERTAIN CONDITIONS AS MORE PARTICULARLY SET FORTH HEREIN; DIRECTING TRANSMITTAL TO THE OFFICIALS STATED HEREIN. WHEREAS, property owners within the Silver Bluff neighborhood have petitioned the closing of Southwest 24th Terrace to prohibit vehicular access between Southwest 17th Avenue and Southwest 27th Avenue, Miami, Florida, subject to certain conditions; and WHEREAS, the City of Miami's ("City") Police Department has no objections to this proposed vehicular access restriction; and WHEREAS, the City's Departments of Fire -Rescue and Solid Waste do not recommend this proposed vehicular access restriction; and WHEREAS, a condition of approval of said prohibition of vehicular access is that access for emergency and solid waste vehicles be provided when necessary; and WHEREAS, the City Commission finds that it is in the best interest of the public to prohibit vehicular access to Southwest 24th Terrace between Southwest 17th Avenue and Southwest 27th Avenue; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. It is hereby directed that vehicular access be restricted through the construction of landscape barricades, other removable bollard devices, or non -permanent devices in a location to be determined and approved by the Miami -Dade County Department of Transportation and Public Works Traffic Division ("County") on Southwest 24 Terrace at its intersections with Southwest 17th Avenue and Southwest 27th Avenue, subject to approval of the County. Section 3. The prohibition of vehicular access shall be subject to any requirements or conditions that may be imposed by the City's Resilience and Public Works Department, Police Department, Fire -Rescue Department, and Solid Waste Department. Section 4. The Miami City Commission further requests that pedestrian access be provided at all times through the landscape barricades, other removable bollard devices, or non- permanent devices. Section 5. The City Clerk is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to the County. Section 6. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.'
