Thankyou for your letter of March 25 asking The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts to
consider management of the Coconut Grove Playhouse. We are very interested in the
management of the Playhouse. It is a theatre with a great history and a wonderful community
asset.'
There iis;much _that we need; to learn about the Playhouse before making anykind of -decision.
Without knowing the facts and -details, here are some preliminary thoughts-.
We would -not want to take on any debt associated with the theatre.
2.1 We would need to have. significant input on the design and Size Of the theatre -but do not
want to be responsible for the construct►on of the facility,
3."We are interested in managing the theatreand would be willing assume_ operating costs
once we.had a `chance to make and study financial projections: for theproject.
4 ! We think:the theatre needsto be between 600 and 750 seats.
S. We would of course want.to preserve -the historic' name of the Playhouse but- need to have
the Arsht Center -brand on it and would want to find a naming donor for the theatre."
6 "The Arsht Center Trust Board would be the legal'enti y responsible for; running the theatre.
The -Coconut Playhouse Board, should not have -any involvement nor would the Arsht:
Center be able to assume any liabilities of the old Playhouse. Board.
These above items are for discussion purposes only and we would like to meet with you and the
interested parties to discuss this opportunity further..
1 will contact you and schedule an appointment so we can discuss in greater detail.
Sincerely,
