Introduction to Bob Kovacevich, Founder and Principal
In 1978, after more than a decade of service as a nationally
awarded Public Broadcast Service senior executive, Bob
Kovacevich formed Avatar Company, Inc.1 The new consultancy's
thrust was to apply market -researched solutions to the challenges
of nonprofit -sector strategic decision making and fundraising. This
focus was prompted by the vexing issue that many nonprofit
organizations' missions, initiatives and/or strategic plans were
simply incompatible with the needs and interests of their vital
audiences. Hence, outcomes were chronic financial instability and
underachieving strategic advancement.
