A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION DIRECTING THE CITY
MANAGER TO INITIATE THE PERMANENT RESTRICTION OF VEHICULAR
ACCESS TO NORTHEAST 68TH STREET IN THE BAYSIDE/MIMO HISTORIC
DISTRICT FROM A POINT APPROXIMATELY 175 FEET EAST OF BISCAYNE
BOULEVARD CONDITIONED UPON ACCESS FOR EMERGENCY VEHICLES
AT ALL TIMES THROUGH A PERMANENT LANDSCAPE BARRICADE,
REMOVABLE BOLLARD DEVICE, OR OTHER NON -PERMANENT DEVICE
PURSUANT TO SECTION 54-16 OF THE CODE OF MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS
AMENDED, SUBJECT TO FINAL APPROVAL OF THE MIAMI-DADE COUNTY
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION AND PUBLIC WORKS TRAFFIC
DIVISION AND CERTAIN CONDITIONS AS MORE PARTICULARLY SET
FORTH HEREIN; DIRECTING TRANSMITTAL TO THE OFFICIALS STATED
HEREIN.
SPONSOR(S): Mayor Francis X. Suarez, Commissioner Keon Hardemon
WHEREAS, property owners within the Bayside/MiMo Historic District have requested
construction of a landscape barricade to prohibit vehicular access to Northeast 68th Street, east
of the intersection with Biscayne Boulevard, in the Bayside/Mimo Historic District neighborhood,
Miami, Florida, ("Street") subject to certain conditions; and
WHEREAS, a condition of approval of said prohibition of vehicular access is that access
for emergency and solid waste vehicles be provided at all times through the barricade; and
WHEREAS, the Departments of Police, Fire -Rescue, and Solid Waste have made
recommendations at the public hearing before the City Commission as to the proposed
vehicular access restriction; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission believes that it is in the best interest of the public to
prohibit vehicular access to the Street;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are
adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. It is hereby directed that vehicular access be restricted through the
construction of a landscape barricade, removable bollard device, or non -permanent device at
the Street subject to approval of the Miami -Dade County Department of Transportation and
Public Works Traffic Division.

Section 3. The prohibition of vehicular access shall be subject to any requirements or
conditions that may be imposed by the City of Miami's Resilience and Public Works
Department, Police Department, Fire -Rescue Department, and Solid Waste Department.
Section 4. The City Commission further directs that pedestrian access be provided at all
times through the aforesaid barricade across the Street.
Section 5. The City Clerk is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to the Miami -
Dade County Traffic Director.
Section 6. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and
signature of the Mayor.'

1 If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days
from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective
immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
