FROM THE SOCIAL SERVICE GAP PROGRAM FUNDS, ACCOUNT NO.
14010.910101.882000; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
EXECUTE ANY AND ALL THE NECESSARY DOCUMENT(S), INCLUDING
AMENDMENTS, RENEWALS, EXTENSIONS, AND MODIFICATIONS, AS MAY BE
NECESSARY; IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, WITH SAID
AGENCY, FOR SAID PURPOSE.
Background of Item:
On January 10, 2019 pursuant to Resolution No. 18-0548 the City of Miami "(City")
approved with modifications, the allocation of Social Service Gap funds for program
year 2018-2019 in the total amount of $743,000.00 which included an amount of
$72,242.00 pending to be allocated.
The Miami Foundation is a non -for -profit organization that provides civic leadership,
bringing people together to advance quality of life in Greater Miami.
The Miami Foundation Elderly Relief, provides financial support for City of Miami
resident's ages 65 and older, to elevate the quality of life of the elderly population.
The City Administration recommends the allocation of Social Service Gap program
funds, in the amount of $72,242.00 to The Miami Foundation for elderly relief, to provide
financial support for the City of Miami resident's ages 65 and older.

A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING AN
ALLOCATION OF SOCIAL SERVICE GAP PROGRAM FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF
$72,242.00 FROM ACCOUNT NO. 14010.910101.882000 TO THE MIAMI
FOUNDATION, INC., A FLORIDA NOT FOR PROFIT CORPORATION, FOR ELDERLY
RELIEF; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE AND
EXECUTE ANY AND ALL NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, ALL IN A FORM
ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, FOR SAID PURPOSE.
WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 18-0548 adopted on January 10, 2019, the City
Commission approved the allocation of Social Service Gap funds for program year 2018-2019 in
the total amount of $743,000.00, which included an amount of $72,242.00 pending future
allocation; and
WHEREAS, the Miami Foundation, Inc., a Florida not for profit corporation
("Foundation"), provides civic leadership that brings people together to advance the quality of
life in Greater Miami; and
WHEREAS, the Foundation provides financial support for City of Miami ("City") residents
ages sixty-five (65) and older to elevate the quality of life of the elderly population; and
WHEREAS, the City Administration recommends the allocation of the remaining Social
Service Gap program funds in the amount of $72,242.00 to the Foundation, to provide financial
support for City residents ages 65 and older;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are
adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The allocation of Social Service Gap funds in the amount of $72,242.00 from
Account No.14010.910101.882000 to the Foundation for elderly relief is approved.
Section 3. The City Manager is authorized' to negotiate and execute any and all
necessary documents, all in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, for said purpose.
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and
signature of the Mayor.2
1 The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by
the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code
provisions.
2 If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days
from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective
immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
