A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION PURSUANT TO
SECTION 18-72 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS
AMENDED ("CITY CODE"), AUTHORIZING THE ALLOCATION OF GRANT
FUNDS FROM THE DISTRICT 3 SHARE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI'S ANTI-
POVERTY INITIATIVE ("API") IN A TOTAL AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED TEN
THOUSAND DOLLARS ($10,000.00) TO MUSEO BRIGADA DE ASALTO 2506,
INC., A FLORIDA NOT FOR PROFIT CORPORATION, IN SUPPORT OF THE
MAINTENANCE AND IMPROVEMENT OF THE BRIGADE 2506 MUSEUM AND
LIBRARY; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE
AND EXECUTE ANY AND ALL NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, IN A FORM
ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, FOR SAID PURPOSE.

WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") created the Anti -Poverty Initiative ("API") to
address poverty based on a strategy of focusing the provision of support towards the City's
residents achieving self-sufficiency; and
WHEREAS, Museo Brigada De Asalto 2506, Inc., a Florida not for profit corporation
("Museo Brigada"), is seeking funding in support of the Brigade 2506 Museum and Library
("Museum"); and
WHEREAS, the Museum commemorates, preserves, and displays the operations,
journey, and mission of the Brigade 2506; and
WHEREAS, the Museum was created in the public interest with the purpose of
educating and promoting cultures, history, and society; and
WHEREAS, the Museum will generate foot traffic in the immediate area which will assist
businesses, create jobs, and help improve an area by promoting development and becoming
more inviting to businesses; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 18-72 of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as
amended ("City Code"), the District 3 Commissioner wishes to provide grant funds from the
District 3 share of the City's API in an amount not to exceed Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.00)
("Funds") for the Museum for maintenance and improvements; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager is requesting authority from the City Commission to
negotiate and execute any and all documents necessary, in a form acceptable to the City
Attorney, for the allocation of Funds for the Museum;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI, FLORIDA:

Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble of this Resolution are
adopted by reference and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. Pursuant to Section 18-72 of the City Code, the City Manager is authorized'
to allocate Funds from the District 3 share of the City's API to Museo Brigada in an amount not
to exceed Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.00) for the Museum.
Section 3. The City Manager is further authorized' to execute any and all necessary
documents, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, for said purpose.
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and
signature of the Mayor.2

1 The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by
the City Attorney, including but not limited to, those prescribed by applicable City Charter and City Code
provisions.
2 If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days
from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective
immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
