MANAGER PRIORITIZE THE ENFORCEMENT OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS AMENDED, WITH RESPECT TO ILLEGAL CAFETERIAS,
BARS, AND LOUNGES WITHIN THE CITY OF MIAMI AND EFFECTUATE THE
IMMEDIATE CLOSURE OF ANY BUSINESSES FOUND TO BE OPERATING
ILLEGALLY.

A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION REQUESTING THE CITY
MANAGER PRIORITIZE THE ENFORCEMENT OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS AMENDED, WITH RESPECT TO ILLEGAL CAFETERIAS,
BARS, AND LOUNGES WITHIN THE CITY OF MIAMI AND EFFECTUATE THE
IMMEDIATE CLOSURE OF ANY BUSINESSES FOUND TO BE OPERATING
ILLEGALLY.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") is committed to providing a high quality of life for
all of its residents; and
WHEREAS, certain property owners fail to obtain proper licenses and permits to legally
operate certain business establishments; and
WHEREAS, many of these violators also serve alcoholic beverages without the proper
licenses and permits; and
WHEREAS, many of these violators do not serve the minimum fifty-one percent (51 %)
food that is required pursuant to their licensing conditions; and
WHEREAS, residents and neighborhoods of the City are negatively impacted by these
failures to abide by the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended ("City Code"), which
affects health, safety and welfare of residents of the City; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City for the City Commission to prioritize
enforcement of the City Code with respect to these illegal business establishments for the
betterment of City residents and communities;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are
adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. This City Commission requests the City Manager to prioritize the
enforcement of the City Code with respect to illegal cafeterias, bars, and lounges within the City
and effectuate the closure of any such businesses found to be operating illegally.
Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and
signature of the Mayor.'
1 If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days
from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective
immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
