Subject: Execute Agreement - Camillus House Day Program
Purpose of Item:
A resolution of the Miami City Commission, authorizing the City Manager to execute an
agreement between Camillus House, Inc. and the City of Miami ("City") for the Day
Services Program, which is designed to provide meaningful, engaging activities for a
period of one (1) year, subject to said services being for the City's homeless, and at a
total cost of $100,000, with conditions as stated herein, payable in twelve (12) monthly
installments.
Background of Item:
In continuance of the City of Miami's commitment to assisting homeless persons within
the jurisdictional boundaries of the City, and that the program will provide participants
with mail boxes and ID services to assist with re-establishing personal identification and
correspondence. These services are offered solely by Camillus House in the City of
Miami. Camillus House, Inc., has the ability to provide these services, and thus has the
ability to utilize the funds for the Day Services Program for the City.

A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE AND EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT, IN A FORM
ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, BETWEEN CAMILLUS HOUSE, INC., A
FLORIDA NOT FOR PROFIT CORPORATION ("CAMILLUS HOUSE") AND THE CITY
OF MIAMI ("CITY") TO PROVIDE GRANT FUNDING FOR THE CAMILLUS HOUSE
DAY SERVICES PROGRAM WHICH IS DESIGNED TO PROVIDE MEANINGFUL AND
ENGAGING ACTIVITIES FOR QUALIFYING PARTICIPANTS AND TO PROVIDE SAID
PARTICIPANTS WITH, A HOT MEAL, A SHOWER, MAILBOXES AND
IDENTIFICATION SERVICES TO ASSIST WITH RE-ESTABLISHING THEIR
CORRESPONDENCE AND IDENTIFICATION, AMONG OTHER THINGS, , A UNIQUE
SERVICE PROVIDED SOLELY BY CAMILLUS HOUSE IN THE CITY ("PROGRAM")
AT A TOTAL COST OF ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS ($100,000.00) WITH
CONDITIONS AS STATED IN THE AGREEMENT, PAYABLE BY THE CITY TO
CAMILLUS HOUSE IN TWELVE (12) MONTHLY INSTALLMENTS ("GRANT")
COMMENCING DURING THE CITY'S 2018-2019 FISCAL YEAR FOR AN INITIAL
PERIOD OF ONE (1) YEAR WITH THE OPTION TO RENEW FOR FIVE (5)
ADDITIONAL ONE (1) YEAR PERIODS OF CITY SPONSORSHIP GRANT FUNDING
UNDER THE SAME TERMS AND CONDITIONS IN THE AGREEMENT AND
SUBJECT TO THE AVAILABILITY OF FUNDING AND BUDGETARY APPROVAL;
FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE AND EXECUTE
WITH CAMILLUS HOUSE ANY AND ALL OTHER NECESSARY DOCUMENTS,
MODIFICATIONS, AND AMENDMENTS, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY
ATTORNEY, TO COMPLETE AND FURTHER THE GRANT ALLOCATION AND
APPROPRIATION.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City"), in furtherance of its continuing commitment to
assist the homeless within the jurisdictional boundaries of the City, wishes to execute an
agreement with Camillus House, Inc., a Florida not for profit corporation ("Camillus House"), in
support of Camillus House's ongoing dedication to the provision of humanitarian services for the
indigent and homeless and, specifically, the Day Services Program ("Agreement"); and
WHEREAS, the Camillus House Day Services Program is designed to provide
meaningful and engaging activities for qualifying participants and provides said participants with
a hot meal, access to a shower, mailboxes and identification services to assist with re-
establishing their correspondence and identification, a unique service provided solely by
Camillus House in the City ("Program"); and
WHEREAS, the City's grant funding for the Program will be in an amount not to exceed
One Hundred Thousand Dollars ($100,000.00), will be available as the obligation becomes due
by the City, and will be payable by the City to Camillus House in twelve (12) monthly
installments ("Grant"); and
WHEREAS, the Grant payments will commence during the City's 2018-2019 Fiscal Year
for an initial period of one (1) year with the option to renew for five (5) additional one (1) year
periods of City sponsorship grant funding under the same terms and conditions in the
Agreement and subject to the availability of funds and budgetary approval;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are
adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The City Manager is authorizedi to negotiate and execute the Agreement, in a
form acceptable to the City Attorney, between Camillus House and the City for the Grant
funding of the Camillus House Day Services Program, a program designed to provide
meaningful and engaging activities for qualifying participants and to provide said participants
with a hot meal, access to a shower, mailboxes and identification services to assist with re-
establishing their correspondence and identification, among other things, with payments
commencing during the City's 2018-2019 Fiscal Year for an initial period of one (1) year with the
option to renew for five (5) additional one (1) year periods of City sponsorship grant funding
under the same terms and conditions in the Agreement and subject to the availability of funds
and budgetary approval.
Section 3. The City Manager is further authorizedi to negotiate and execute any and all
other necessary documents, modifications, and amendments, in a form acceptable to the City
Attorney, to complete and further Grant allocation and appropriation.
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption
and signature of the Mayor.2
