Background of Item: The State of Florida Department of Financial Services has annually awarded a grant to the South Florida Urban Search and Rescue Task Force 2, for the continued operation of the City's USAR Program. Said grant award for Fiscal Year 2017 is in the amount of $100,000.00, commencing upon the execution of this Agreement, through August 31st 2019. It is now appropriate to accept said grant award, establish a Special Revenue Project and appropriate the $100,000.00 grant award therein for said fiscal year. WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") has been awarded a grant in the amount of One Hundred Thousand Dollars ($100,000.00) from the State of Florida, Department of Financial Services ("DFS"); and WHEREAS, pursuant to stipulations contained in the Federally -Funded Subaward and Grant Agreement ("Grant Agreement"), said funds will be used by the Department of Fire - Rescue for the acquisition of specialized equipment and to provide training, management, and administration of the South Florida Urban Search and Rescue ("USAR") Program; and WHEREAS, it is appropriate for the City Commission to authorize the City Manager to accept said grant, execute the Grant Agreement, and to establish a special revenue project for the appropriation of said grant award; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The following new Special Revenue Project is established and resources are appropriated as described below: PROJECT TITLE: State Homeland Security Grant Program ("SHSGP") Sub -Recipient Agreement for Expenditure of Local Government Unit Funding for FL USAR Task Forces For Fiscal Year 2017 RESOURCES: State of Florida, DFS $100,000.00 APPROPRIATIONS: $100,000.00 Section 3. The City Manager is authorized' to execute the Grant Agreement, in substantially the attached form, in order to implement the acceptance and administration of said grant award. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.2 APPROVED AS TO FORM AND CORRECTNESS: ndez, ity Attor ey 12/4/2017 1 The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to, those prescribed by applicable City Charter and City Code provisions. 2 If the mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
