SPONSOR(S): Commissioner Keon Hardemon WHEREAS, Miami -Dade County Black Affairs Advisory Board ("Black Affairs Advisory Board") advocates for the social, economic, political, and educational needs of the diverse black community in Miami -Dade County; and WHEREAS, the District 5 Commissioner wishes to grant funds from the Commissioner's share of the City of Miami's ("City") Anti -Poverty Initiative, in an amount not to exceed $7,000.00 ("Funds"), to the Black Affairs Advisory Board; and WHEREAS, Black Affairs Advisory Board is a board under the Miami -Dade County, a political subdivision of the State of Florida; and WHEREAS, the Black Affairs Advisory Board will utilize the Funds for Community Pillars scholarships, which are awarded to students to assist in the costs of their post high school education ("Program"); and WHEREAS, the City Manager is requesting authority from the City Commission to negotiate and execute an agreement, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, with the department overseeing the Black Affairs Advisory Board for the purposes stated herein; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble of this Resolution are adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Manager is authorized' to allocate grant funds from the District 5 Commissioner's share of the City's Anti -Poverty Initiative to Miami -Dade County for the benefit of the Black Affairs Advisory Board, in an amount up to $7,000.00, for the Program. Section 3. The City Manager is authorized' to negotiate and execute any and all necessary documents, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, to complete the allocation. 1 The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to, those prescribed by applicable City Charter and City Code provisions.
