OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS AMENDED ("CITY CODE"),
AUTHORIZING THE ALLOCATION OF GRANT FUNDS FROM THE MAYOR'S
SHARE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI'S ANTI -POVERTY INITIATIVE ("API"), IN A TOTAL
AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED TWENTY-FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($25,000.00) TO
THE ARK OF THE CITY, INC., A FLORIDA NOT FOR PROFIT CORPORATION, IN
SUPPORT OF ITS "CHRISTMAS ON THE 15TH" EVENT; FURTHER AUTHORIZING
THE CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE AND EXECUTE ANY AND ALL NECESSARY
DOCUMENTS, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, FOR SAID

OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS AMENDED ("CITY CODE"),
AUTHORIZING THE ALLOCATION OF GRANT FUNDS FROM THE MAYOR'S
SHARE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI'S ANTI -POVERTY INITIATIVE ("API"), IN A TOTAL
AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED TWENTY-FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($25,000.00) TO
THE ARK OF THE CITY, INC., A FLORIDA NOT FOR PROFIT CORPORATION, IN
SUPPORT OF ITS "CHRISTMAS ON THE 15TH" EVENT; FURTHER AUTHORIZING
THE CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE AND EXECUTE ANY AND ALL NECESSARY
DOCUMENTS, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, FOR SAID
PURPOSE.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") created the Anti -Poverty Initiative ("API") to address
poverty based on a strategy of focusing the provision of support towards the City's residents
achieving self-sufficiency; and
WHEREAS, The Ark of the City, Inc., a Florida not for profit corporation ("Ark of the City"),
has is seeking funding in support of its annual "Christmas on the 15th" Event ("Event"); and
WHEREAS, the Event provides an opportunity for underprivileged inner-city youth ranging
from newborns to children 15 years of age, to have a joyful Christmas by giving them toys, food,
entertainment, and a parade through the City, free of charge, in celebration of the Christmas
holiday; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 18-72 of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as
amended ("City Code"), the Mayor wishes to provide grant funds from the Mayor's share of the
City's API in an amount not to exceed Twenty-five Thousand Dollars ($25,000.00) ("Funds") for
the Event; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager is requesting authority from the City Commission to negotiate
and execute any and all documents necessary, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, for the
allocation of Funds for the Event;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are
adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. Pursuant to Section 18-72 of the City Code, the City Manager is authorized' to
allocate Funds from the Mayor's share of the City's API to Ark of the City for its Event in an
amount not to exceed Twenty-five Thousand Dollars ($25,000.00).
Section 3. The City Manager is further authorized'to execute any and all necessary
documents, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, for said purpose.
Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and
signature of the Mayor.2

1 The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by
the City Attorney, including but not limited to, those prescribed by applicable City Charter and City Code
provisions.
2 If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days
from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective
immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
