This grant requires a General Fund contribution of $43,468, to complete the entire project. For the first year, the amount of $15,570 will be transferred to the Special Revenue Fund from the General Fund non -departmental account. Background of Item: The JAG Program will provide funding to support criminal justice initiatives that are allowed under the program. Any equipment purchases or funded initiatives such as overtime, task forces, drug programs or information sharing, will be aimed at reducing crime and enhancing public and officer safety. This grant is awarded for a covering period beginning October 1, 2017, through September 30, 2021. WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") has been awarded a grant in the amount of $316,746.00 to provide funding in support of criminal justice initiatives, technical assistance, training, personnel, equipment, supplies, contractual support, and information systems for the Miami Police Department; and WHEREAS, the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program will provide funding to support criminal justice initiatives that are allowed under the grant; and WHEREAS, any equipment purchases or funded initiatives such as overtime, task forces, drug programs, or information sharing will be aimed at reducing crime and enhancing public and officer safety; and WHEREAS, this grant requires a City match of $43,468.00 to complete the entire project; and WHEREAS, said grant is awarded for the period beginning October 1, 2017 through September 30, 2021; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Manager is authorized' to execute the grant agreement, in substantially the attached form. Section 4. The City Manager is further authorized' to designate the Chief of Police to execute any other necessary documents, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, in order to implement the acceptance and administration of said grant award. Section 5. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
