Accept Funds - Coconut Grove Sidewalks Project
Purpose of Item:
To authorize the City Manager to accept funds in the amount of $308,526.61 from the
Coconut Grove Business Improvement District ("BID") to implement modifications to the
design and permitting plans for the Coconut Grove Sidewalks, Project 40-B30687
("Project").
Background of Item:
The City of Miami Office of Capital Improvements is currently managing the Coconut
Grove Sidewalks Project 40-B30687, which segment runs along Main Highway from
Franklin Avenue to McFarlane Road. In October 11, 2017 the Coconut Grove BID Board
of the Directors approved the current design for the City's Project and requested
modifications to the plans as follows: 1) eliminating the parking spots between Fuller
and Commodore on the Northwest side of the street; 2) eliminating the left turn lane in
front of St. Stephens; and 3) expanding the sidewalk into the former parking spaces.
Therefore, at the March 2, 2018 Board of Director's meeting, the BID approved funds to
implement the requested modifications into the design and permitting plans for the
Project in an amount not to exceed $308,526.61. Funds are to be allocated and
appropriated by a separate resolution to Project Number 40-B30687.
