A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, PURSUANT TO SECTION 18-
72 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI ("CITY") FLORIDA, AS AMENDED
("CODE"), AUTHORIZING THE ALLOCATION OF GRANT FUNDS FROM THE
MAYOR'S SHARE OF THE CITY'S ANTI -POVERTY INITIATIVE ("API"), IN A TOTAL
AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($5,000.00) TO ST.
SOPHIA GREEK ORTHODOX COMMUNITY ("ST. SOPHIA"), IN SUPPORT OF THEIR
GREEK FESTIVAL EVENT; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
NEGOTIATE AND EXECUTE ANY AND ALL DOCUMENTS NECESSARY, IN A FORM
ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, FOR SAID PURPOSE.

A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, PURSUANT TO SECTION 18-
72 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI ("CITY") FLORIDA, AS AMENDED
("CODE"), AUTHORIZING THE ALLOCATION OF GRANT FUNDS FROM THE
MAYOR'S SHARE OF THE CITY'S ANTI -POVERTY INITIATIVE ("API"), IN A TOTAL
AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($5,000.00) TO ST.
SOPHIA GREEK ORTHODOX COMMUNITY ("ST. SOPHIA"), IN SUPPORT OF THEIR
GREEK FESTIVAL EVENT; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
NEGOTIATE AND EXECUTE ANY AND ALL DOCUMENTS NECESSARY, IN A FORM
ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, FOR SAID PURPOSE.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") created the Anti -Poverty Initiative ("API") to
address poverty based on a strategy of focusing the provision of support towards City's
residents achieving self-sufficiency; and
WHEREAS, the St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Community, a Florida not for profit
corporation, ("St. Sophia"), is seeking funding in support their Greek Festival event ("Event");
and
WHEREAS, the Event serves a community, civic, and public purpose and has been an
integral part of the community for over sixty (60) years; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 18-72 of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida as
amended ("City Code"), the Mayor ("Mayor") wishes to provide grant funds from the Mayor's
share of the City's API in an amount not to exceed Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00) ("Funds")
for the event; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager is requesting authorization from the City Commission to
negotiate and execute any and all documents necessary, in a form acceptable to the City
Attorney, for the allocation of funds for the event;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble of this Resolution are
adopted by reference and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. Pursuant to Section 18-72 of the City Code, the City Manager is authorized'
to allocate Funds from the Mayor's share of the City's API to St. Sophia in an amount not to
exceed Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00) for the event.
Section 3. The City Manager is further authorized' to execute any and all documents
necessary, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, for said purpose.
1 The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by
the City Attorney, including but not limited to, those prescribed by applicable City Charter and City Code
provisions.
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and
signature of the Mayor.2

2 If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days
from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective
immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
