A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING THE
ALLOCATION OF THE MAYOR'S SHARE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI'S ("CITY") ANTI-
POVERTY INITIATIVE GRANT FUNDS IN A TOTAL AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED FIVE
THOUSAND DOLLARS ($5,000.00) TO CATHOLIC CHARITIES OF THE
ARCHDIOCESE OF MIAMI, INC., A FLORIDA NOT FOR PROFIT CORPORATION,
FOR NOTRE DAME D'HAITI CATHOLIC CHURCH IN SUPPORT OF ITS BACK TO
SCHOOL EVENT; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE AND
EXECUTE ANY AND ALL NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO
THE CITY ATTORNEY, FOR SAID PURPOSE.

A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING THE
ALLOCATION OF THE MAYOR'S SHARE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI'S ("CITY") ANTI-
POVERTY INITIATIVE GRANT FUNDS IN A TOTAL AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED FIVE
THOUSAND DOLLARS ($5,000.00) TO CATHOLIC CHARITIES OF THE
ARCHDIOCESE OF MIAMI, INC., A FLORIDA NOT FOR PROFIT CORPORATION,
FOR NOTRE DAME D'HAITI CATHOLIC CHURCH IN SUPPORT OF ITS BACK TO
SCHOOL EVENT; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE AND
EXECUTE ANY AND ALL NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO
THE CITY ATTORNEY, FOR SAID PURPOSE.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") created the Anti -Poverty Initiative to address
poverty based on principles outlined in the Gateway to Self -Sufficiency strategy, which focuses
on providing support to the City's residents in achieving self-sufficiency; and
WHEREAS, Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Miami, Inc., a Florida not for profit
corporation ("Organization"), will be provided the funds on behalf of Notre Dame D'Haiti Catholic
Church in support of a fundraising event to support the church's back to school efforts
("Program"), which furthers the Organization's goal of supporting individuals and families, by
enhancing human life, dignity, and building communities through support, food, and guidance;
and
WHEREAS, the Organization furthers the Anti -Poverty Initiative within the City and
exemplifies the principles outlined in the Gateway to Self -Sufficiency strategy; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor desires to contribute to the Organization's Program; and
WHEREAS, the City wishes to allocate a total amount not to exceed five thousand
dollars ($5,000.00) from the Mayor's share of Anti -Poverty Initiative grant funds to the
Organization;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are
adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The allocation from the Mayor's share of the City's Anti -Poverty Initiative
grant funds in an amount not to exceed five thousand dollars ($5,000.00) to the Organization for
the Program is authorized.'
1 The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by
the City Attorney, including but not limited to, those prescribed by applicable City Charter and City Code
provisions.
Section 3. The City Manager is further authorized' to negotiate and execute any and all
necessary documents, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, for said purpose.
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and
signature of the Mayor.2

2 If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days
from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective
immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
