A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION ACCEPTING SECTION 8
HOUSING PROGRAM FUNDS, IN THE AMOUNT OF $4,663,200.00 FOR
RENTAL ASSISTANCE AND IN THE AMOUNT OF $436,800.00 FOR
PROGRAM ADMINISTRATION, FOR A TOTAL AMOUNT OF $5,100,000.00,
FOR PROGRAM YEAR 2018-2019 ANNUAL CONTRIBUTIONS FROM THE
UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT;
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE AND EXECUTE ANY
AND ALL DOCUMENTS, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY
ATTORNEY, AS MAY BE NECESSARY FOR SAID PURPOSE.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") has four hundred forty-three (443) units under
Section 8 contracts; and
WHEREAS, the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development ("HUD")
has advised the City that the allocation for the Section 8 Housing Program for Program Year
2018-2019 is available in the amount of $4,663,200.00 for rental assistance payments and
$436,800.00 for program administration, for a total amount of $5,100,000.00 ("Funds"); and
WHEREAS, the City Administration recommends the acceptance of the Funds for
Program Year 2018-2019;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are
adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The acceptance of the Funds for the Program Year 2018-2019 is authorized.
Section 3. The City Manager is authorized' to negotiate and execute any and all
documents, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, as may be necessary for said purpose.
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and
signature of the Mayor.2
1 The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by
the City Attorney, including but not limited to, those prescribed by applicable City Charter and City Code
provisions.
2 If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days
from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective
immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
