1. The City Office of Capital Improvements determined seawall is past its useful life
2. Moffat & Nichols, our marine engineering firm also determined the seawall needed to be
replaced.
3. The recent dredging project stayed away from the seawall for fear it could collapse.
4. No engineer would document that the seawall only needs a new cap and the rest should
be saved.
5. Florida Navigation District gave the City 2 grants to replace the seawall for more than
$1,000,000.
6. The Miami River Commission has requested that the seawall needs to be replaced for 13
years.
7. The City has obtained permits from the ACOE, FDEP, and pending BCC approval DERM to
replace the seawall.
8. The HEP Board voted 9-0 to replace the seawall in the historic neighborhood.
