After graduating from Miami Edison Senior High School, Harris served as a News Reporter for the Miami Herald. 73, f"r'I rn CD Harris has a Master's Degree in Public Administration from Barry University and her Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration from Barry University. She is also a Graduate of the Southern Police Institute Command Officer Course (FBI training). Aside from having prestigious training herself, Harris does extensive Law Enforcement training in key areas of specialty. As a Certified Police Instructor, Harris has facilitated and taught courses in: Ethics and Professionalism, Use of Force, Diversity Training, and Sensitivity Training, Harris also trains other Police Officers to become certified Police Instructors (Train the Trainer). She went to Shadowlawn Elementary, Edison Middle School and Edison Senior High all located in the City of Miami. She was raised during the McDuffie riot era, in the Liberty City Area and was a Sergeant in the North End District of the City of Miami where she helped to rid of one of the toughest drug gangs in the Country called the "John Doe Boys" Ms. Harris was featured on an episode of 20/20 for this effort. Ms. Harris continues to hold a strong bond with the Community of the City of Miami, to include its residents and business owners. She holds numerous awards from the Community for her unprecedented work in her specialty of Community Policing, an effort which brings community, police and business together. She has been recognized for her Outstanding Community Service by many residents, home owner and business associations located in the City of Miami to include the Buena Vista Stakeholders and the Buena Vista West Neighborhood Association, Inc. just to name a few. This is why Harris has chosen to have her business office located in the City of Miami for her non-profit, The Community Policing Project, Inc, to continue giving back to the community she grew up in.
