Subject: Amend Agreement - Modify Brickell Trolley Route
Purpose of Item:
A Resolution directing the City Manager to take all steps necessary, including, but not
limited to, an amendment to the City of Miami's ("City") current Interlocal Agreement
with Miami -Dade County ("County"), to modify the City's existing Brickell Trolley route.
Background of Item:
The City of Miami desires to modify its Brickell Trolley Route to provide improved
access to the Brickell/Downtown area for Coconut Grove Residents and to support
proposed adjustments to the Coconut Grove Trolley Route. The Brickell Route
alignment will be extended 3.2 miles along South Bayshore Drive from Mercy Hospital
to Miami City Hall which is currently served by the Coconut Grove Trolley Route. One
(1) trolley vehicle will be transferred from the Coconut Grove Route to the Brickell
Route, which will increase operational costs by approximately $237,392.00. The
operating hours for the route will remain the same.

A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO TAKE ANY AND ALL STEPS NECESSARY, INCLUDING BUT NOT
LIMITED TO, NEGOTIATING AND EXECUTING AN AMENDMENT TO THE
CURRENT INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN MIAMI-DADE COUNTY
("COUNTY") AND THE CITY OF MIAMI ("CITY"), IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE
CITY ATTORNEY, TO MODIFY THE BRICKELL TROLLEY ROUTE ("ROUTE") TO
EXTEND THE ROUTE FROM MERCY HOSPITAL, ALONG SOUTH BAYSHORE
DRIVE, TO CITY HALL, MIAMI, FLORIDA; EXTENDING THE ROUTE FROM 7.65
MILES TO 10.87 MILES WITH NO CHANGES TO THE HOURS OF OPERATION AND
INCREASING OPERATIONAL COSTS BY APPROXIMATELY TWO HUNDRED
THIRTY SEVEN THOUSAND THREE HUNDRED NINETY TWO DOLLARS
($237,392.00) DUE TO THE ADDITION OF ONE (1) TROLLEY VEHICLE SUBJECT
TO THE AVAILABILITY OF FUNDS AND BUDGETARY APPROVAL.
WHEREAS, there is an Interlocal Agreement ("Agreement") between Miami -Dade
County ("County") and the City of Miami ("City") which allows the City to operate trolleys in the
Allapattah, Biscayne, Brickell, Coconut Grove, Coral Way, Downtown, Health District, Little
Havana, Overtown, Wynwood, and Little Haiti areas; and
WHEREAS, the City desires to amend the Agreement, in a form acceptable to the City
Attorney, to modify the existing Brickell Trolley Route ("Route") to extend service from Mercy
Hospital to City Hall, in Coconut Grove ("Modification"); and
WHEREAS, the Modification will improve mobility in the area and provide more direct
access to the Brickell/Downtown areas for Coconut Grove residents; and
WHEREAS, the Modification will extend the Route from 7.65 miles to 10.87 miles without
any changes to the hours of operation and will increase operational costs by approximately Two
Hundred Thirty Seven Thousand Three Hundred Ninety Two Dollars ($237,392.00) due to the
addition of one (1) trolley vehicle;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are
adopted by reference and incorporated as fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The City Manager is authorized' to take any and all steps necessary,
including but not limited to, negotiating and executing an amendment to the Agreement between
the County and the City, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, to allow for the Modification

extending the Route from 7.65 miles to 10.87 miles without any changes to the hours of
operation and increasing operational costs by approximately Two Hundred Thirty Seven
Thousand Three Hundred Ninety Two Dollars ($237,392.00) due to the addition of one (1)
trolley vehicle, subject to the availability of funds and budgetary approval.
Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and
signature of the Mayor.2
