A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S),
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT GRANT FUNDING IN AN
AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS
($100,000.00) ("GRANT") FROM BLOOMBERG PHILANTHROPIES FOR THE
TESTING AND PROTOTYPING PHASE OF THE 2018 MAYORS CHALLENGE
PRECEDING THE DEVELOPMENT OF A DATA -DRIVEN INTERACTIVE WEB
PLATFORM TO INFORM STAKEHOLDERS ABOUT MITIGATION OPTIONS
RELATED TO SEA LEVEL RISE ("PROJECT"); ESTABLISHING A SPECIAL
REVENUE PROJECT, ENTITLED "2018 MAYORS CHALLENGE GRANTS",
AND APPROPRIATING SAID GRANT FOR SAID PURPOSE FOR THE
PROJECT; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OR HIS
DESIGNEE TO SUBMIT A SUPPLEMENTAL APPLICATION FOR THE
DEVELOPMENT PHASE OF THE 2018 MAYORS CHALLENGE, TO ACCEPT
ANY FURTHER GRANT AWARDS, AND TO NEGOTIATE AND EXECUTE ANY
AND ALL GRANT AGREEMENTS, RENEWALS, EXTENSIONS,
MODIFICATIONS, AMENDMENTS, AND OTHER NECESSARY DOCUMENTS,
IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, TO IMPLEMENT THE
ACCEPTANCE AND ADMINISTRATION OF, AND COMPLIANCE WITH SAID
GRANT(S) FOR THE PROJECT, SUBJECT TO BUDGETARY APPROVAL AT
TIME OF NEED.

WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") has been designated a Champion City by and
awarded a grant of not to exceed one hundred thousand dollars ("$100,000.00) ("Grant") from
Bloomberg Philanthropies to fund the testing and prototyping phase of the 2018 Mayors
Challenge preceding the development of a collaborative visual storytelling data platform; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to the Grant guidelines, the City is required to allocate funding
towards the testing and prototyping phase as described in the Grant budget and budget
narrative, with the purpose of galvanizing community and partner collaboration around data
related to sea level rise ("Project"); and
WHEREAS, the City shall comply with the aforementioned Grant guidelines throughout
the progression and execution of the Project, the first phase of which begins upon receipt of the
Grant funds and concludes on August 20, 2018 when a supplemental application is due to enter
the City's prototype Project into the final review and selection phases for the 2018 Mayors
Challenge;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI, FLORIDA:

Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are
adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The City Manager is authorized to accept the Grant in an
amount not to exceed one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000.00) from Bloomberg
Philanthropies for the Project.
Section 3. The following new Special Revenue Project is established and resources are
appropriated as described below:
FUND TITLE: 2018 Mayors Challenge Grants
RESOURCES: Bloomberg Philanthropies $100,000.00
APPROPRIATIONS: 2018 Mayors Challenge Grants $100,000.00
Section 4.The City Manager or his designee is authorized to submit a supplemental
application for the development phase of the 2018 Mayors Challenge, to accept any further
grant awards, and to negotiate and execute any and all grant agreements, renewals,
extensions, modifications amendments, and other necessary documents, in a form acceptable
to the City Attorney, to implement the acceptance and administration of and compliance with
said grant(s) for the Project subject to budgetary approval at time of need.
Section 5. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and
signature of the Mayor.'

1 If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days
from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective
immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
