File No. 3574 Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Commission Chapter 62, Article 3, Section 62-16 of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended ("City Code"), entitled "Planning and Zoning/Planning, Zoning and Appeals Board/Appointments; Qualifications," is being amended to rename Subsection 62-16(j) "Educational Payment," and to eliminate the one -dollar ($1.00) a year compensation for members of the Planning, Zoning and Appeals Board. WHEREAS, Section 62-16 of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended ("City Code"), provides for compensation to members of the Planning, Zoning and Appeals Board ("PZAB"); and WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") desires to eliminate reference to the one dollar ($1.00) per year payment to members of the PZAB while continuing to make provisions for the payment of PZAB member attendance at authorized seminars and conferences; and WHEREAS, the City Commission, after careful consideration of this matter, deems it advisable and in the best interest of the general welfare of the City and its citizens to amend the City Code as hereinafter set forth; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Ordinance are adopted and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. Section 62-16 of the City Code is amended by in the following particulars:1 "CHAPTER 62 PLANNING AND ZONING ARTICLE 3. PLANNING, ZONING AND APPEALS BOARD Sec. 62-16. Appointments; qualifications. 1 Words and/or figures stricken through shall be deleted. Underscored words and/or figures shall be deleted. The remaining provisions are now in effect and remain unchanged. Asterisks indicate omitted and unchanged material. Members and alternate members of the planning, zoning and appeals board shall receive a remuneration of $1.00 per year. The city commission shall make provision for the payment of actual and necessary expenses, in accordance with city policy, for the attendance of each member and alternate member of the board at one (1) local city -authorized planning or zoning seminar or conference each calendar year to be held in the state. The City Manager, City Attorney and City Clerk shall coordinate and present or cause to be presented said seminar or conference and make such course available at least quarterly. *„ Section 3. If any section, part of a section, paragraph, clause, phrase, or word of this Ordinance is declared invalid, the remaining provisions of this Ordinance shall not be affected. Section 4.
