A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING THE
PLACEMENT OF MARKER DESIGNATIONS PURSUANT TO SECTION 54-136(1) OF
THE CODE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS AMENDED, IN THE PUBLIC
RIGHT-OF-WAY LOCATED AT THE INTERSECTION OF BISCAYNE BOULEVARD
AND NORTHEAST 10TH STREET AND IN THE PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY LOCATED
AT THE INTERSECTION OF NORTHEAST 2ND AVENUE AND NORTHEAST 10TH
STREET, MIAMI, FLORIDA, TO COMMEMORATE ZAHA HADID, SUBJECT TO ALL
APPLICABLE PERMITTING REQUIREMENTS.

A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING THE
PLACEMENT OF MARKER DESIGNATIONS PURSUANT TO SECTION 54-136(1) OF
THE CODE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS AMENDED, IN THE PUBLIC
RIGHT-OF-WAY LOCATED AT THE INTERSECTION OF BISCAYNE BOULEVARD
AND NORTHEAST 10TH STREET AND IN THE PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY LOCATED
AT THE INTERSECTION OF NORTHEAST 2ND AVENUE AND NORTHEAST 10TH
STREET, MIAMI, FLORIDA, TO COMMEMORATE ZAHA HADID, SUBJECT TO ALL
APPLICABLE PERMITTING REQUIREMENTS.
WHEREAS, Zaha Hadid was a visionary, ground -breaking architect who is
internationally known for her buildings and theoretical and academic work; and
WHEREAS, Zaha Hadid transformed communities around the world with her public and
private projects; and
WHEREAS, Zaha Hadid was the first female architect to be awarded the Pritzker
Architecture Prize, the most prestigious award in architecture; and
WHEREAS, Zaha Hadid designed the One Thousand Museum project, located at 1000
Biscayne Boulevard, Miami, Florida; and
WHEREAS, One Thousand Museum was one of Zaha Hadid's last and most acclaimed
projects; and
WHEREAS, Zaha Hadid unexpectedly passed away on March 31, 2016, at the age of
sixty-five (65) in South Florida; and
WHEREAS, One Thousand Museum will serve as a reminder of Zaha Hadid's legacy
and her inimitable style and talent; and
WHEREAS, the Miami City Commission wishes to commemorate Zaha Hadid's life and
her contribution to the City of Miami's skyline by placing marker designations in the public right-
of-way at the intersection of Biscayne Boulevard and Northeast 10th Street and in the public
right-of-way at the intersection of Northeast 2nd Avenue and Northeast 10th Street, Miami,
Florida, at the steps of the One Thousand Museum project;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are
adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The placement of marker designations pursuant to Section 54-136(1) of the
Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended, in the public right-of-way located at the
intersection of Biscayne Boulevard and Northeast 10th Street and in the public right-of-way
located at the intersection of Northeast 2nd Avenue and Northeast 10th Street, Miami, Florida,
to commemorate architect Zaha Hadid, is authorized subject to all applicable permitting
requirements.
Section 3 . This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and
signature of the Mayor.'

1 This Resolution shall become effective as specified herein unless vetoed by the Mayor within ten (10)
days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become
effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
