Background of Item: GSA has been tasked with locating a viable resource to provide Hydro -Cartridge maintenance services for the draining of oils in the City's fleet garage. The Department of Procurement ("Procurement") conducted intensive market research and it was determined that the Hydro -Cartridge system can only be maintained by Geotechnical Marine to ensure the continued warranty provided when installed, and secure parts when needed, since parts are patented by Geotechnical Marine, and have maintenance warranties associated with them. Although research showed there were other companies that provided the maintenance service; once another company handles the Hydro -Cartridge system all warranties are voided. Geotechnical Marine is a sole source, due to its parts patents, and maintenance. Pursuant to Section 18.92 (a) (2) (3), Sole Source Contracts of the City's Procurement Code; a sole source is recommended for the above mentioned reasons.
