The Stars of Calle Ocho Walk of Fame and Community Recognition Advisory Committee was
created to oversee the nomination process and placement for any new Stars of Calle Ocho Walk of
Fame celebrity and community recognition plaques ("stars") and to oversee the maintenance, repair
relocation, and replacement of existing stars. The stars are situated in Little Havana on Southwest 8th
Street, between Southwest 12th Avenue and Southwest 27th Avenue in Miami, Florida ("Calle
Ocho"). The stars will recognize entertainment professionals in motion pictures, television, live
theater, arts, radio and recording.
Nine (9) appointments are needed at this time:
• Mayor Francis Suarez has one (1) nomination for a seat currently held by:'
1. Brenda Betancourt, incumbent, whose term expired on February 11, 2017.
• Commissioner Joe Carollo has three (3) nominations for seats currently held by:2'3
1. Suzy Batlle, incumbent, whose term expired on December 2, 2017.
2. Jose Zelaya, incumbent, whose term expired on December 2, 2017.
3. Juan Coro, incumbent, whose term expired on December 2, 2017.
• Commission -At -Large has three (3) nominations for seats currently held by:4
1. Bill Fuller, incumbent, whose term expired on January 12, 2018.
2. Eduardo Padron, incumbent, whose term expired on January 12, 2018.
3. Carole Ann Taylor, incumbent, whose term expired on January 12, 2018.
• Commission -At -Large is being requested to confirm the appointment of the following
members:5
1. Gerard Fernandez, nominated by Kiwanis of Little Havana Foundation, Inc.
2. Guillermo Senmartin, nominated by Kiwanis of Little Havana Foundation, Inc.
