City Clerk On Thursday, July 27th, the city of Miami will vote on whether or not to proceed with plans for a hotel on Watson Island. Preserve public open green spaces. Miami is a place that is known for its natural beauty. Tourists come to enjoy our sunshine, fauna and flora. Lets preserve it. Please include my comment as part of public records on the issue of Watson Island. Marta Zayas Little Havana Neighborhood Association Thanked! Tamme Flood , Spring Garden • 21h ago I agree. Watson Island was given to the citizens of Miami. Open, green spaces available to everyone. NO hotels or future commercial enterprises on the site. Miami Yacht Club Youth Sailing Foundation and the Japanese Gardens should receive more public support as they serve the community from that location. Thanked! Denise Beeman Sasiain , Shenandoah • 19h ago Dear Commissioners, Keep Watson Island accessible to the Miami residents... not catering to developers to build tourist destinations (with hotels or adventure parks with high-priced entrance fees). Losing the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration would be a HUGE loss for the City of Miami, and all of South Florida. If they can be accommodated on a part of Watson Island... it would be a great solution for the NOAA needing additional space! Let's not lose this great institute to competing cities like St. Petersburg who know the value of their work, knowledge and research! Thanked! Tamme Flood , Spring Garden • 19h ago I agree...keep Watson Island open to the public....as it was intended. The last developer held prime land hostage for almost 20 years...and this one is asking for a huge lease extension. No more commercial enterprises on Watson Island! 7/27/17, 9:28 AM Vextdoor https://shenandoahmia.nextdoor.com/news_feed/ developer held prime land hostage for almost 20 years...and this one is asking for a huge lease extension. No more commercial enterprises on Watson Island! Let's support the not for profits that actually give back to the community. Miami Yacht Club Youth Sailing Foundation has been teaching Miami kids to sail since the 1920's. The Japanese Garden is a lovely oasis in the heart of Miami. Even the boat ramp serves the public. As to NOAA: Miami Yacht Club has a 2nd story office that is being used (for FREE) by the police department now. It would be great to have NOAA there! No more commercial development on Watson Island. Please create green space for the public to use...and enjoy one of the best views of our wonderful city. • Thanked! Submitted into the pule record f r ite (s) on 1 17 !`1 .
