Background of Item: The City of Miami ("City") currently operates a multitude of trolleys in the Allapattah, Biscayne, Brickell, Coconut Grove, Coral Way, Downtown, Health District, Little Havana, Overtown, and Wynwood areas. There is a large community that has been historically underserved by transit in the Little Haiti area. The new circulator would make connectivity from the Biscayne Trolley and Wynwood Trolley to the new Little Haiti Trolley in the areas of Midtown and Design District, traveling along major arterials in the City such as Northwest 2nd Avenue and Northeast 2nd Avenue from Northeast/Northwest 36th Street to Northeast/Northwest 84th Street, as well as passing through North 54 Street between NE 2 Avenue and NW 2 Avenue, and traveling briefly along Northeast 61 Street and Northeast 62 Street from Northeast 2nd Avenue to Biscayne Boulevard. This new route will greatly benefit transportation alternatives for locals and tourists alike. Therefore, this resolution requests that Miami -Dade County Department of Transportation and Public Works consider approving the amendment to the interlocal agreement to add the Little Haiti Trolley route to the City's Miami Trolley system.
