Background of Item: The City of Miami's Police Department has a continued need for decontamination, disinfection, and disposal of bio-hazardous waste and spills. On November 20, 2014 the current contract IFB 371326, was approved under the City Manager's authorized spending limit of $50,000, for an initial term of two (2) years, with the option to renew (OTR) for three (3) additional one (1) year periods. The contract is in its first OTR term, and will expire on November 19, 2017. To date $49,954 has been expended. This resolution will allow Police to continue to utilize this contract through the remaining months of the first OTR and the second, and third OTRs. WHEREAS, the Miami Police Department ("MPD") has a continuing need for decontamination, disinfection, and disposal of bio-hazardous waste and spills; and WHEREAS, Invitation for Bid ("IFB") No. 371326, Bio-Hazardous Waste and Spills, was awarded on November 20, 2014 to Bioresponse, Corp. under the City Manager's authority pursuant to Chapter 18 of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended, entitled "The City of Miami Procurement Ordinance"; and WHEREAS, it is necessary to increase the amount of the contract to address increased need; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The increase in capacity in the amount of $56,196.00, beyond the City Manager's authority of $50,000.00 for IFB No. 371326, Bio-Hazardous Waste and Spills, with Bioresponse Corp., is approved. Section 3. Funds are to be allocated from the various sources of funds of the MPD, subject to the availability of funds and budgetary approval at the time of need. Section 3. The City Manager is authorized' to negotiate and execute all other documents, including any amendments, renewals, extensions, and modifications to the contract, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, as may be necessary for said purpose. 1 The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney including but not limited to, those prescribed by applicable City Charter and City Code provisions. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.2 APPROVED AS TO FORM AND CORRECTNESS: ndez, City Attor ey 8/3172017 2 If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
