HomeMy WebLinkAboutBack-Up DocumentsI C A I\/I M I A Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami 4040 NE 2nd Avenue Miami FL 33137 Free and Open Access to the Most Innovative Art of Our Time ICA Miami's Community Engagement programs connect community organizations and Miami -Dade Public Schools to contemporary art. ICA Miami offers it partners free transportation to the museum as required, and brings project -based workshops to our partner locations that provide a platform for participants to think critically, not only of themselves but also their community. Our immersive tour program is designed to be accessible to K-12 students of all abilities, build critical thinking skills, and engage participants in contemporary art. Stats: • A total of over 500 contact hours based on 2 hour workshops offered once a week at each site over the course of a 6-8 week sessions • Over 1,000 participants since 2014 • 11 partners organizations and schools Community Partner Organizations: Lotus House Lotus House is an organization dedicated to improving the lives of homeless women, youth and children, providing sanctuary, support, education, tools and resources that empower them to heal, learn, grow and blossom into who they are truly meant to be. ICA Miami is incredibly proud to work with residents of Lotus House, and presented an exhibition of their work inside the museum's galleries. Citrus Health CHANCE Program The Citrus Helping Adolescents Negatively impacted by Commercial Exploitation (CHANCE) program works directly with affected youth and provides individualized treatment around trauma -focused care, cognitive behavioral treatment and programming focused on empowerment. ICA Miami works with participants to promote self expression and healing through the creative process. Urgent Inc. Urgent Inc, is a youth and community development organization located in the historic Overtown neighborhood dedicated to empowering young minds to transform their communities. ICA Miami is proud to provide programming that supports under -served youth build creatives futures. Pridelines icamiami . orfd I C A I\/I M I A Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami 4040 NE 2nd Avenue Miami FL 33137 Pridelines provides support, education and empowerment to South Florida's lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) youth and the community at large through affirming programs that promote dialogue, wellness and foster social change. ICA Miami's on -site workshops provide additional outlets for LGBTQ youth to celebrate their identities in a safe and welcoming space. Miami Children's Initiative ICA Miami provides unique arts programming opportunities for the Miami Chiidren's Initiative, which is a partnership between residents, youth, religious centers, schools, businesses and non-profit organizations dedicated to addressing the needs of the Liberty City community by providing a unified system of support, education and care. South Florida Cares Mentoring The National CARES Mentoring Movement connects adults to local group-mentoring programs that focus on the emotional, social and academic development of children. ICA Miami is a member of #Superfriends at William's Park group, providing after -school programming to the community surrounding William's Park. Hands 2 Help; Passage 2 Womanhood Program ICA Miami's workshop curricula provide creative outlets for participants in the Passage 2 Womanhood program, and initiative from Hands 2 Help that educates young ladies on how to successfully handling many issues that can become obstacles at some point in their lives. Breakthrough Miami ICA Miami has integrated its workshops with Breakthrough Miami's academic enrichment program, which encourages Miami -Dade middle -school students to enter, thrive in and graduate from top college -prep high schools and four-year colleges and universities. The Miami Dade Juvenile Justice System ICA Miami provides critical arts programming to youth in the The Miami Dade Juvenile Detention Center, a detention center that provides safe and secure supervision of youth abd provides services for youth including education, mental health, substance abuse, and health care. ICA lmmersive Tour Program lmmersive Tours at ICA are developed for school and youth groups, with free transportation provided by ICA Miami if needed. These tours serve as a cornprehensive experience with a tour curriculum that is age -appropriate and designed around essential questions, themes in a current exhibition or relating to art history and include hands-on activities. icamiami.org
