HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-17-0335City of Miami Resolution R-17-0335 Legislation City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 2430 Final Action Date: 7/13/2017 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING THE ALLOCATION OF GRANT FUNDS FROM THE DISTRICT 1 COMMISSIONER'S SHARE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI'S ("CITY") ANTI -POVERTY INITIATIVE, IN A TOTAL AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $5,000.00, TO THE MIAMI POLICE DEPARTMENT FOR THE MIAMI POLICE ATHLETIC LEAGUE. SPONSOR(S): Commissioner Wifredo (Willy) Gort WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") Police Department ("Department") works with the Miami Police Athletic League ("PAL") to build positive relationships with the youth of the community; and WHEREAS, the Department and PAL work with children through athletics, activities, and mentorship ("Program"); and WHEREAS, the District 1 Commissioner wishes to grant funds from the Commissioner's share of the City's Anti -Poverty Initiative in an amount not to exceed $5,000.00 ("Funds") to the Department for the Program; and WHEREAS, the City Manager is requesting authority from the City Commission to transfer Funds to the Department for the Program; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble of this Resolution are adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Manager is authorized' to allocate grant funds from the District 1 Commissioner's share of the City's Anti -Poverty Initiative to the Department for the Program in an amount not to exceed $5,000.00. Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.2 1 The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and City Code provisions. 2 If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
