Attendance: Monitoring and student engagement: Corps members monitor attendance
and work closely with students to improve attendance through school -wide initiatives,
one-on-one coaching (including phone calls home) and communication with parents and
guardians.
Behavior: Support and developmental progress: Through general instruction,
near -peer coaching and engagement programs, corps members mentor
students toward social and self -management skills and behaviors that reflect
a strong, purpose -driven character.
City Year corps members
serve full-time in schools
Every school City Year
serves has a team of 8-12
corps members
Course Performance in Math & English: Corps members tutor students
one-on-one and in small groups, integrating with the school's academic
curricula and acting as an additional resource for teachers in classrooms.
Corps members also support whole school initiatives and lead out -of -class
activities to expand and optimize learning time with before and after school
programming to complement in -class instruction, and help put students on a
path towards college.
Lunch Mentoring: AmeriCorps members partner with teachers and
administrators to identify students with one or more early warning
indicators (Poor Attendance, Poor Behavior, and/or Poor Course
Performance) pointing to a need for extra attention, then work together to
ensure that the right students receive the right supports at the right time.

COMMUNITY -ORIENTED POLICING City Clerk
• Community policing increases understanding and trust between police and
community members. Effective partnerships are built upon increased levels of
communication and trust between partners.
• The police and neighborhoods working together help empower and strengthen
community -based efforts. Partnerships with the community invite communities to
take greater charge of their own lives and encourage them to participate in their
own defense against crime and social disorder problems.
