Hi Jennifer,
Thank you for your work on this, and for your follow-up.
Sorry for the delay - we are in the midst of co -organizing 2 marches for this month, and also managing our
Seeds for Haiti program in addition to the core things we do, which you'll see listed below :-)
Urban Paradise Guild (UPG) is the oldest Climate Action Organization based in Miami, and has been working
to protect Miami's future since 200S. UPG offers long-term solutions to long range problems like food deserts,
Sea Level Rise, and viability of critical and endangered habitats.
All UPG projects fight the causes or effects of Climate Change by creating positive impacts on immediate
needs. For example our...
* Urban Forestry projects protect and create Native Habitat benefiting people and wildlife
* Coastal Resilience projects create estuaries for fish and wildlife which strengthen shorelines and protect
infrastructure
* Urban Agriculture work lays the groundwork for low-income families to feed themselves through Organic
Gardening
* UPG Nurseries grow plants and trees for Forestry, Agriculture & Coastal projects
* Seeds for Haiti program packages vegetable seeds so that 50,000 people can grow their own food
* Forestry & Coastal plantings include trees and Mangroves which capture carbon to reduce Climate Change
* Planting, promotion and protection of natives promotes water conservation as they require less watering and
maintenance throughout the year
* Agriculture & Seeds bank support organic gardening which prevents carbon release by Factory Farming, a
major cause of Climate Change
* Activities integrate experiential education: UPG won Miami Dade College Community Partner of the Year
for Service -Learning on 3 occasions
* Projects are Volunteer -Powered, engaging the community in actively creating solutions to protect Miami's
future
Please let us know if these items satisfy what is outstanding.
Thanks again?
Sincerely,
i
