A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION DIRECTING THE CITY
MANAGER TO DEVELOP AND IMPLEMENT AN ASSESSMENT CRITERIA
AND GRADING SYSTEM FOR CITY OF MIAMI STREETS (COLLECTIVELY
"GRADING PLAN"); FURTHER DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO SUBMIT
THE PROPOSED GRADING PLAN FOR CITY COMMISSION APPROVAL
WITHIN ONE HUNDRED TWENTY (120) DAYS OF THIS RESOLUTION.
SPONSOR(S): Commissioner Ken Russell
WHEREAS, under the State of Florida Road Classification System, the City of Miami
("City"), as a general proposition, maintains public streets within the City limits consisting of
urban collector roads or local roads; and
WHEREAS, the City wishes to develop a meaningful maintenance plan for the upkeep of
such City streets which will include developing and implementing assessment criteria to classify,
measure, and gauge a Grading System for such City streets; and
WHEREAS, under the City's Capital Improvements Projects and Public Works Plans,
one (1) of the City's priorities and goals, as may be updated and amended from time to time, will
be to develop, approve, and implement a Grading System to be uniformly applied to City
streets; and
WHEREAS, an Assessment Criteria and Grading System ("Grading Plan") will provide a
better maintenance plan to mill and resurface such City Streets; and
WHEREAS, such a Grading Plan, once developed, will assist and identify the sequence
of such maintenance;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are
adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The City Manager is directed to develop and implement a Grading Plan for
City streets.
Section 3. The City Manager is further directed to submit the proposed Grading Plan for
City Commission approval within one hundred twenty (120) days from the adoption of this
Resolution.
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and
signature of the Mayor. 1
1 If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days
from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective
immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission
