Five years ago, the Southeast Florida Regional
Climate Action Plan (RCAP 1.0) was developed as
the result of collaboration between local
government staff and resources from the various
cooperating agencies. A variety of
stakeholders contributed to the Southeast
Florida Regional Climate Change Compact's
process, including more than 90 members of the
public that took the time to submit comments to
a draft. This original collaboration and
document has now evolved into a powerful tool
used to meet climate challenges in the region
head-on.
As part of the collective and regional progress,
the Regional Climate Action Plan will be updated throughout 2017.

Development steps for the RCAP 2.0 will begin with teams of topic experts reviewing and
vetting existing recommendations. They will then develop new recommendations to be
posted to the Compact website for stakeholder review. The Compact will also gather
feedback at an in -person stakeholder workshop in April. Experts and Compact Staff
Steering Committee members will then integrate stakeholder feedback into the first draft of
the RCAP, to be reviewed again by experts and local governments. This first draft will be
available again for all stakeholders' feedback. The final version of RCAP 2.0 will be released
at the 9th Annual Southeast Florida Regional Climate Leadership Summit, to be held
December 14-15 in Ft. Lauderdale.
