PH. 10 - Allocation of $70,000 from D4's Anti -Poverty Initiative
to Catalyst Miami, Inc.
March 9th, 2017
• PH 10 is a resolution that allocates $70,000 from D4's Anti -Poverty Initiative
Fund to Catalyst Miami, Inc.
• The mission of Catalyst Miami is to develop and support individual leaders
and strong organizations that work together to improve health, education,
and economic opportunity in all our communities. To achieve this mission,
they identify and launch innovative strategies to help people and
communities thrive and to create a more equitable and caring society.
• I am fortunate that this group is partnering with my office to bring their
Prosperity Program to District 4 residents. As part of this program, my
residents will have access to a financial coach that will help them with such
services as:
o Financial coaching and education
o Credit coaching and credit -building programs
o Savings Program
o IRS tax assistance
o Health coaching and education
o Low-cost/No-cost healthcare access
o Medicaid
o KidCare
o Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)
o FAFSA assistance
• These are just some of the services they will receive help with.
• In a time when the disparity gap is widening between the wealthy and poor
in this City and affordability for basic necessities such as housing seem
unattainable, programs like these are needed more than ever.
