Hannon City Clerk Date: January 24, 2017 Subject: City of Miami Beautification Committee References: Agenda for February 9, 2017 Enclosures: List of members The City of Miami Beautification Committee was created to (1) review projects contracts, and proposals of various City departments, including, but not limited to, the Parks and Recreation Department, Public Works Department, and Capital Improvements and Transportation Programs, and other input as to selection or design of landscaping, tree canopy, median maintenance, traffic circle maintenance, swale maintenance or other such factors that may affect the aesthetic quality of the project or proposal; (2) hold public hearings to receive input on beautification efforts pertaining to specific projects or in general; (3) issue recommendations to the City Manager or designee on any actions taken by the City as it pertains to beautification and aesthetic enhancement; and (4) serve in an advisory capacity to the City Commission and recommend, in writing, any proposed policy changes that would enhance the beautification and aesthetic appeal of the City; and (5) exercise all powers in subsections (1) (4) above, provided that the exercise of the same does not unduly or unreasonably delay City projects. Four (4) appointments are required at this time: • Mayor Tomas Regalado has one (1) nomination for a seat currently held by: 1. Maria Sardina Mann, incumbent, whose term expires on February 11, 2017. • Vice Chair Ken Russell has one (1) nomination for a seat currently: 1 1. Vacant. • Commissioner Frank Carollo (1) nomination for a seat currently:2 1. Vacant. • City Manager Daniel J. Alfonso (1) nomination for a seat currently held by:3 1. Bob Powers, incumbent, whose term expired on January 14, 2017. i This item was continued from January 14, 2016, February 11, 2016, March 11, 2016, April 14, 2016, May 12, 2016, June 9, 2016, July 14, 2016, September 8, 2016, October 13, 2016, November 17, 2016, December 8, 2016, and January 12, 2017, Commission meetings. 2 This item was continued from October 13, 2016, November 17, 2016, December 8, 2016, and January 12, 2017, Commission meetings. 3 This item was continued from January 12, 2017, Commission meeting. For your convenience, we are including a copy of the current membership of said committee. By copy of this memorandum, we are requesting that the Agenda Office place this issue on the February 9, 2017, Commission Agenda.
