A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO TAKE ALL STEPS NECESSARY, INCLUDING BUT NOT
LIMITED TO NEGOTIATING AND EXECUTING AN AMENDMENT TO THE
CITY OF MIAMI'S CURRENT INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT WITH MIAMI-DADE
COUNTY, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, TO ALLOW
FOR THE MODIFICATION OF THE EXISTING WYNWOOD TROLLEY ROUTE,
WITH POSSIBLE MODIFICATIONS TO THE OPERATING HOURS AND/OR
HEADWAYS, TO PROVIDE SERVICE TO THE RESIDENTIAL AREAS AND
SMALL BUSINESSES ALONG NORTHWEST 2ND AVENUE, NORTH OF
NORTHWEST 29TH STREET TO NORTHWEST 36TH STREET, MIAMI,
FLORIDA, DEVIATING FROM NORTHWEST 26TH STREET WESTBOUND
FROM NORTH MIAMI AVENUE TO NORTHWEST 2ND AVENUE, MIAMI,
FLORIDA, THEREBY INCREASING THE CURRENT ROUTE ALIGNMENT
FROM 4.33 MILES TO 5.23 MILES.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") operates a municipal trolley system providing
residents, visitors, and commuters with a mode of public transportation that improves mobility
and enhances connections to existing local and regional transit facilities; and
WHEREAS, the City's trolley system currently services ten (10) interconnected routes
that include the Wynwood Trolley Route; and
WHEREAS, the City, through feedback received from a public meeting held pursuant to
Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 on April 20, 2016, and in collaboration with the Wynwood
Business Improvement District, desires to modify the Wynwood Trolley Route to service the
residential areas and small businesses along Northwest 2nd Avenue, north of Northwest 29th
Street to Northwest 36th Street, deviating from Northwest 26th Street westbound from North
Miami Avenue to Northwest 2nd Avenue, Miami, Florida; and
WHEREAS, the modification of the Wynwood Trolley Route will increase the current
route alignment from 4.33 miles to 5.23 miles, with possible future modifications to the operating
hours and/or headways; and
WHEREAS, the modification of the Wynwood Trolley Route will allow seamless
connectivity to the Design District and access to the Shops at Midtown, as well as connectivity
with the City's Biscayne Trolley; and
WHEREAS, this modification will further facilitate commuter movement throughout the
City by also connecting with several Miami -Dade Transit routes that travel to the City of Miami
Beach via Northwest 36th Street, Miami, Florida; and
WHEREAS, the modification will not increase operational or capital costs, as adjusted

travel frequencies and speeds will accommodate the modification of the route utilizing the
trolleys currently in circulation;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are
adopted by reference and incorporated as fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The City Manager is authorized1 to take all steps necessary, including but not
limited to negotiating and executing an amendment to the City's current Interlocal Agreement
with Miami -Dade County, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, to allow for the modification
of the existing Wynwood Trolley Route, with possible modifications to the operating hours
and/or headways, to provide service to the residential areas and small businesses along
Northwest 2nd Avenue, north of Northwest 29th Street to Northwest 36th Street, deviating from
Northwest 26th Street westbound from North Miami Avenue to Northwest 2nd Avenue, Miami,
Florida, thereby increasing the current route alignment from 4.33 miles to 5.23 miles.
Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and
signature of the Mayor.2

1 The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by
the City Attorney including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and City Code
provisions.
2 If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days
from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective
immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
