A Resolution directing the City Manager to take all steps necessary, including, but not
limited to, an amendment to the City of Miami's current Interlocal Agreement with Miami -
Dade County, to allow for the modification of the Little Havana Trolley Route that would
service higher concentrations of population south of Southwest 8th Street and to the
west and east of Southwest 37th Avenue, further improving commuter movement
throughout the City by connecting with the Coral Gables Trolley and several Miami -
Dade Transit routes along the expanded route.
Background of Item:
The City of Miami ("City"), through feedback received from a Title VI public meeting held
on April 20th, 2016, desires to modify the Little Havana trolley route to service the areas
to the south along Southwest 16th Street between Southwest 27th Avenue and
Southwest 37th Avenue, and to the west and east of Southwest 37th Avenue, deviating
from Southwest 8th Street eastbound from Southwest 37th Avenue to Southwest 27th
Avenue, thus increasing the current route alignment from 9.74 miles to 10.96 miles, with
possible future modification to the operating hours and/or headways. In addition, there
