Capacity - Radiator Srvcs, Purpose of Item: Requesting Department: Department of Procurement Sponsored By: District Impacted: All The purpose of this item is to authorize a resolution of the Miami City Commission, approving the increase in capacity beyond the City Manager's authority, and retroactively approving expenditures over and above the current amount of $50,000, for IFB 325289, Radiator Repairing and Recoring Services, from A B C Radiator & Air, Inc.; authorizing the City Manager to negotiate and execute all other documents, including any amendments, and modifications to the contract, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, as may be necessary for said purpose, allocating funds from the various sources of funds of the user departments, subject to availability of funds and budgetary approval at the time of need. Background of Item: The City's heavy duty fleet is aging and requires more routine service and maintenance. The current agreement IFB 325289, was approved under the City Manager's authorized spending limit of $50,000.00 on August 28, 2012. Additional funding is required, since the original allotment of $50,000 was exceeded during the past fiscal year. In an effort to save money, the City has opted to utilize IFB 325289, as opposed to purchasing new OEM radiators at triple the amount paid for recoring. This process provides a less expensive alternative to vehicle/equipment replacement, and will allow the City to extend the useful life of its fleet. IFB 325289 will be expiring in August, 2017, and the requested increase to capacity will fulfill the City's needs until a replacement contract is established.
