HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-17-0027City of Miami Resolution R-17-0027 Legislation City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 1491 Final Action Date: 1/12/2017 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S), RATIFYING, APPROVING AND CONFIRMING THE NECESSARY ACTION OF THE CITY MANAGER AND/OR DESIGNATED CITY OF MIAMI ("CITY") STAFF IN ORDER TO ACCEPT THE 2016 COCA-COLA/KEEP AMERICA BEAUTIFUL PUBLIC SPACE RECYCLING BIN GRANT, WHICH WILL PROVIDE THE CITY WITH NINETY (90) RECYCLING BINS, VALUED AT A TOTAL OF APPROXIMATELY $32,500.00, TO BE PLACED IN PUBLIC SPACES THROUGHOUT THE CITY; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO PURCHASE AN ADDITIONAL THIRTY (30) MATCHING RECYCLING BINS, AT A TOTAL COST NOT TO EXCEED $10,070.00; ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM ACCOUNT NO. 04001.213040.552000.0000.0000; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE GRANT AGREEMENT, IN SUBSTANTIALLY THE ATTACHED FORM, AND ANY OTHER NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, TO IMPLEMENT THE ACCEPTANCE AND ADMINISTRATION OF SAID GRANT. WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") submitted a grant application as part of the 2016 Coca-Cola/Keep America Beautiful Public Space Recycling Bin Grant ("Grant"), which seeks to place recycling bins in downtown areas, athletic fields, venues, and other public spaces; and WHEREAS, on November 17, 2016, the City received notification that it was selected to receive ninety (90) recycling bins, valued at a total of approximately $32,500.00, to be placed in public spaces throughout the City to support City-wide recycling efforts; and WHEREAS, as a condition of the Grant, the City must purchase thirty (30) matching recycling bins; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and/or designated City staff have accepted the Grant as the deadline to do the same was November 29, 2016; and WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City to ratify, approve and confirm the necessary actions of the City Manager and/or designated City staff in order to accept the Grant; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. Acceptance of the Grant by the City Manager and/or designated City staff is hereby ratified, approved and confirmed. The City Manager is authorized' to purchase an additional thirty (30) recycling bins, at a total cost not to exceed $10,070.00, with funds allocated from Account No. 04001.213040.552000.0000.0000. Section 4. The City Manager is further authorized' to execute the grant agreement, in substantially the attached form, and any other necessary documents, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, to implement the acceptance and administration of said Grant. Section 5. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.2 APPROVED AS TO FORM AND CORRECTNESS: ndez, ity Attor ey 1/3/2017 1 The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and City Code provisions. 2 If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted.
