Purpose of Item: The City of Miami ("City") submitted a grant application to The Coca-Cola Company through Keep America Beautiful to receive a grant for ninety (90) recycling bins for public spaces. The City of Miami was selected to receive (90) recycling bins for public spaces to support the City's citywide recycling efforts valued at approximately $32,500. As a condition of this grant, the City must purchase thirty (30) additional recycling bins to match the grant. We respectfully request approval of this resolution. Background of Item: A resolution of the Miami City Commission, with attachment(s), ratifying the City Manager's electronic acceptance of the 2016 Coca-Cola Public Space Recycling grant and authorizing the City Manager to execute the necessary documents, in substantially the attached form, to implement the administration of said grant. WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") submitted a grant application as part of the 2016 Coca-Cola/Keep America Beautiful Public Space Recycling Bin Grant ("Grant"), which seeks to place recycling bins in downtown areas, athletic fields, venues, and other public spaces; and WHEREAS, on November 17, 2016, the City received notification that it was selected to receive ninety (90) recycling bins, valued at a total of approximately $32,500.00, to be placed in public spaces throughout the City to support City-wide recycling efforts; and WHEREAS, as a condition of the Grant, the City must purchase thirty (30) matching recycling bins; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and/or designated City staff have accepted the Grant as the deadline to do the same was November 29, 2016; and WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City to ratify, approve and confirm the necessary actions of the City Manager and/or designated City staff in order to accept the Grant; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. Acceptance of the Grant by the City Manager and/or designated City staff is hereby ratified, approved and confirmed. Section 3. The City Manager is authorized' to purchase an additional thirty (30) recycling bins, at a total cost not to exceed $10,070.00, with funds allocated from Account No. 04001.213040.552000.0000.0000. Section 4. The City Manager is further authorized to execute the grant agreement, in substantially the attached form, and any other necessary documents, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, to implement the acceptance and administration of said Grant. Section 5. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.2 APPROVED AS TO FORM AND CORRECTNESS: ndez, City Httoriey ) 1/3/2017 1 The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and City Code provisions. 2 If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
