HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-17-0006City of Miami Resolution R-17-0006 Legislation City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 1467 Final Action Date: 1/12/2017 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S), ESTABLISHING A SPECIAL REVENUE PROJECT ENTITLED "2015 -16 MIAMI- METRO HOMELESS ASSISTANCE PROGRAM -SOUTH" AND ACCEPTING AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $141,433.00, CONSISTING OF A GRANT FROM THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT, THROUGH THE MIAMI-DADE COUNTY HOMELESS TRUST ("TRUST"), FOR A TWELVE (12) MONTH PERIOD, TO PROVIDE OUTREACH, INFORMATION, REFERRAL, ASSESSMENT AND PLACEMENT SERVICES TO HOMELESS INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES IN MIAMI-DADE COUNTY; ALLOCATING THE CITY OF MIAMI ("CITY") REQUIRED MATCHING FUNDS IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $61,625.00, FROM THE MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT GRANT ACCOUNT NO. 14800.910501.512000.0000.000000; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT, IN SUBSTANTIALLY THE ATTACHED FORM, IN ORDER TO IMPLEMENT THE ACCEPTANCE OF THE GRANT AWARD, WITH THE OPTION TO RENEW FOR TWO (2) ADDITIONAL TWELVE (12) MONTH PERIODS, SUBJECT TO THE TRUST'S FUTURE ALLOCATION AND THE CITY'S APPROPRIATION OF FUNDS. WHEREAS, in December 2015, the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development ("HUD"), through the Miami -Dade County Homeless Trust ("Trust"), awarded the Miami Homeless Assistance Program ("Program") a grant award in the amount of $141,433.00 ("Grant") to provide outreach, assessment and placement of homeless individuals and families in Miami -Dade County for a twelve (12) month period; and WHEREAS, the Program has been awarded the same contract for seven (7) consecutive years and this Resolution, requesting multiyear renewals of said award, will expedite grant execution since the Trust's fiscal cycle differs from the City of Miami's ("City") fiscal year; and WHEREAS, said grant award decreases the need for homeless individuals to travel to the City for services by funding programs to attend the needs of individuals where they are located; and WHEREAS, the City's required matching funds in the amount of $61,625.00, has been identified from the "City of Miami 2016 Memorandum of Agreement Grant" Account No. 14800.910501.512000.0000.000000; and WHEREAS, it is appropriate for the for the City Manager to accept said grant award, to establish a new special revenue project for the appropriation of said grant award and to execute an agreement, in substantially the attached form, for the implementation of said grant award; City of Miami Page 1 of 2 File ID: 1467 (Revision:) Printed On: 3/18/2025 File ID: 1467 Enactment Number: R-17-0006 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The following new Special Revenue Project is established and resources are appropriated as described below: FUND TITLE: RESOURCES: "2015-16 Miami -Metro Homeless Assistance Program - South" HUD through Miami -Dade County Homeless Trust City of Miami 2016 Memorandum of Agreement Grant Account No. 14800.910501.512000.0000.00000 APPROPRIATIONS: City of Miami Homeless Assistance program for outreach, information, referral, assessment and placement services to homeless individuals $141,433.00 $61,625.00 $203,058.00 Section 3. The City Manager is authorized to execute an agreement, in substantially the attached form, in order to implement the acceptance of said grant award, with the option to renew for two (2) additional twelve (12) month periods, subject to the Trust's future allocation and the City's appropriation of funds. Section 4.
